Player Pathway Program

The Player Pathway Program (PPP) is a supplemental, invite only program for identified players to practice under the Philadelphia Union methodology.

The aim is to provide a platform for individual development and playing opportunities, whilst trying to get as many of the Gold Tier players recommended into the Academy system as possible.

The PPP is a stand-alone program, designed to run parallel to the club season, creating additional playing and training opportunities outside of the player's club model.

*The Player Pathway Program is NOT a team.

**All eligible players must be identified through either a Camp, Program, ID Clinic or recommendation from Union staff

For more information regarding the PPP, please contact Youth Technical Director, Phil Griffiths at pgriffiths@philadelphiaunion.com

NEW FOR 2022/2023:

 Juniors PPP:

  • The Junior PPP is the 1st step on the Pathway and catered specifically for U8 players that show potential and forging ahead for their age. The Junior PPP is a 16 week per year program broken down into two 8-week blocks. Focus of coaching at this age is to educate players within the fundamentals of the game, technical ability and most importantly to love the game!
  • The PPP Juniors program is limited to 24 players and all players must be identified to be eligible.

Seniors PPP:

  •  The PPP Seniors is a new component to the PPP pyramid, providing H.S age players the opportunity to continue their personal development and participate in training and College Showcase events to prepare themselves for the next steps.

Girls PPP:

  •  The PPP has expanded from a co-ed program into a Girls specific program. The aim of the Girls Program over the next 12 months is to grow and replicate the high level and model of the Boys program respectively, creating developmental opportunities to practice and play in events throughout the calendar

Testimonials

  • “My son's experience in the PPP program has positively impacted his overall development as a player in such an incredible way. With the support of his wonderful coaches, he has become more confident in himself and his decision making on the field.”
  • "As a parent watching my son develop, I am so thankful for the opportunity to train here and for the opportunities this program has provided. When a coach is encouraging his players during a game with “Believe in yourself!” I can’t think of another place I would want my son training.”
  • "The high level of expectation combined with a nurturing and relationship centered culture has brought the best out of him. Under the Union umbrella, there is always something higher to aim for and a "big picture" to keep the players focused on continued improvement!"
  • "While the focus is on player development, the true benefits are much greater indeed. My son has made lifelong friends in the program and has gained many new insights from his coaches. Being able to get additional touches while honing skills in an exciting, yet competitive environment further energizes his passion and unconditional love for the game!
  • My Son has truly enjoyed his time training at PPP. Joining the program at the navy tier motivated him to train more consistently and gave him an opportunity to reach a personal goal he set for himself. He was ecstatic to be asked to train at the gold level like his two older brothers and even said, “All my hard work paid off”.
